Hello! I am Yonna and I am a Senior Policy Analyst. I have worked across the energy policy space (electricity, gas and water) before joining RenewableUK and starting my carrier in renewables. This gave me a good basis to work on and put my education into practice. I studied Finance and Management at University of Aberdeen and then I went to complete a Master’s degree in Economics and Policy of Energy and the Environment at UCL.

My day-to-day job is varied as I coordinate RenewableUK’s advocacy on technologies which are essential for net zero such as electricity storage. I liaise with industry and policy decision-makers to inform and find ways to remove regulatory barriers that affect the sector. I have to be analytical and organised as my job provides me with interesting challenges to ever more complex and evolving market.

There are various ways to get into renewables; attending university fairs or trying to learn more about the sector by taking part in training and mentoring programmes is a great way to start building relationships, gain knowledge and experience.
