My job in stakeholder engagement is as much about me engaging internally with my colleagues (lots of meetings and emails), as it is engaging with people from outside the project such as the public, marine users and Councils. To do my job well, I need to be in the know about what the project needs to do, when, where and when and being able to communicate that externally– that needs the help and support of my colleagues – we are one big team.

Every day is different. The sector has very real and challenging timescales to deliver - that keeps everyone driven and motivated to work as a team, to get things achieved.

Think outside of your ‘normal’ role and the ‘usual’ organisations. Don’t put yourself in a box, think about expanding your knowledge and skills as it is never too late to change jobs – the industry is an exciting space to learn and grow.
