Laura Noone
Area Manager - North Scotland
EDF Renewables
My day-to-day job is to ensure safe and efficient operation of EDF Renewables onshore windfarms in the north of Scotland, which includes our largest onshore windfarm in Europe.
I manage a team of technicians who carry out all maintenance and repair works on the turbines in my area...
I love my job as I get to work in a progressive and exciting industry while doing something fantastic for the environment, all while taking in some breath-taking scenery. It is a fast paced industry, with technological advances at the forefront and I love being a small part of that.
I started off professional life as a fresh-faced Graduate Civil Engineer, and being in the renewables sector was always my passion, so I worked in Project Management on various windfarm construction projects before finding myself on the Operational side of the fence, and I have never looked back!
Renewables Apprenticeships and Graduate Schemes are a fantastic way for anyone looking for a start in the Wind Turbine Industry. But we also recruit from a very wide pool of talent, from Mechanical & Electrical backgrounds to those looking to leave the Armed Forces, there is always a transferable skillset if you have a positive attitude, willingness to learn and enjoy working in challenging environments in a manual job.
