It's amazing to be part of such a unique project that will have a positive impact on the environment and for future generations...

My job is to create the basic structure of the [wind turbine] blade before it is cast and the epoxy is added...

This involves following instructions written by the blade engineers and carefully layering the materials. Various types of fibre glass and balsa wood are added to the mould, according to the specifications and measurements given.

I love my job as it is completely different to any other job currently available in Hull.

Every day is different and exciting and I get to work within an enthusiastic and friendly team. It's amazing to be part of such a unique project that will have a positive impact on the environment and for future generations.

I decided to get into the manufacturing sector as I like to challenge myself. I'd never done anything remotely similar to this before and I wanted to learn something new.

I applied via the Green Port Hull and Siemens Careers websites and the progressed through the interview stages.

Anyone wanting to get into wind power and renewables should follow the local press for jobs, and also social media to understand the industry.
