Hi I’m Conaill and I’m a Renewable Technology Engineer at the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult, where I have worked for a year. I moved from an academic mathematics career path into an engineering role on a PhD in a wind energy systems research group.

As a technical member of the organisation I am responsible for contributing to projects from an engineering perspective. I am involved in the design of systems and projects commissioned by the ORE Catapult and I analyse data and information to provide insight into the state of the offshore renewables industry. In addition I do a lot of project management and client communication.

It is a historic time for renewable energy. This decade marks the point where renewables have become mainstream so while it is such an important industry for the development of society there are also significant opportunities. Building and maintaining the vast next generation wind farms offshore is one of the most exciting engineering challenges that the UK has proposed in centuries and I am excited to be part of it.
