Core to stakeholder engagement is relationship building. A key skill is listening to people and understanding their point of view. On a project of this scale there are many different stakeholders with different perspectives so organising and prioritising is also a key skill.

I love spending time with people and understanding their different perspectives. I get great pleasure from working out what I have in common with others and how we can work together collaboratively.

Try and work out what your interests and passions are, then start talking to people. Go along to free exhibitions and conferences, identify the people that you want to speak to, and then introduce yourself to them. Most people in the industry are generous with their time so just go for it!
