As part of my job I am required to carry out the day-to-day operations of the HSE department. I contribute to the application of effective Health, Safety and Environmental management by providing technical support. I also assist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations, and maintain relevant HSE logs and documentation. I also take part in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and prepare applicable HSE reports as necessary.
It is an important part of my job to regularly work on the shop floor. This allows me to establish an HSE presence and provide support if needed. I love my job because I genuinely like to ensure colleagues, contractors and visitors to the site are kept safe.
I applied for an apprenticeship at JDR Cable Systems in the HSE sector. I was successful and found myself working in the wind industry. After 16 months, I completed my apprenticeship and was taken on full time at JDR as an HSE Coordinator.
